Petrified of everything around him, Adam tries to navigate the terrifying world of school while his overbearing mother has other plans to ensure his survival.

Adam Dolly is deathly afraid of the world and its people. How couldn't he be when, most certainly, they're all out to harm him? He and his sister Lillian have been apart from their dear mother for years due to her illness, and living with a family friend has only made Adam and his mother more anxious. When Adam finally gets the opportunity to move back, he doesn't account for the trade-off of being enrolled in a public art program or the lengths he and his mother will go to keep each other safe.

Stitch By Stitch started during quarantine in 2020. Despite the overwhelming desire to create a webcomic, the idea formed out of random ideas taking a liking to each other. Zinune puts the initial formation of the concept like this, "I don't remember the specific details, it all started with two words. Like many others, I fell down a rabbit hole of random content daily during quarantine and on this day I looked into soap-making. One of the videos I viewed was centered on dessert-themed soaps, where the videographer used real cinnamon. A lot of the commenters were upset, talking about how using cinnamon in soap could burn the skin with enough use. I found the idea of something meant to be clean and helpful but ultimately doing more harm than good interesting and when something piques my interest, I think about it all day or week until there's a solid idea floating in my head. I began to envision a family based on the concept of cinnamon soap. A family that was clean and pristine at first glance, but everyone is hurting each other without even knowing. The rest of it sort of built itself in my head and in my doodles until I finally starting writing things out".

"Though he went through many changes, Adam was easy to create. It took several weeks to understand I wanted him to be terrified of his surroundings rather than angry at them. Once I did, however, everything clicked into place. I made Lukas because Adam needed a friend, Madeline because Adam needed a goal, and Lillian because Adam needed a foil. Everything sort of revolves around that kid."

Stitch By Stitch started back in 2020 during quarantine, from the simple desire to create a webcomic. I don't remember the specific details, but I was watching a soap making video where someone used cinnamon in their soap. A lot of the comments were discussing whether or not that'd be harmful to the skin of the person using the soap. Something about the idea of cinnamon soap stuck in my mind, and I envisioned a family so stuck up that they fake a friendly disposition, then scrub their hands with cinnamon soap as soon as they can to rid themselves of everyone they politely shook hands with.
